Where to find Industry Data
Hello Monkeys,
I have an informational coming up with an MD in Chicago for a sector I know virtually nothing about - it is Manufacturing and Industrials. Just out of curiosity, where would one start to read if you know nothing about a particular sector and want to learn more about it from a bare-bones perspective (e.g. key drivers, state of the industry at present, etc.).
Thanks guys!
Find some big companies in that space and get an initiating coverage report.
Best bet would be to use a Bloomberg Terminal and find coverage reports on either the sector (found some for areas such as Enterprise Software) or if you dont have access to that, try the research section on the website of Consulting firms, I needed some information on the Transportation industry a while back and KPMG had a published report of the trends in the sector that really helped me out. Hopefully there would be something for you in there.
try IBIS reports.
