One other thing - YSK that sellside ER is more akin to a nuanced version of financial journalism (with a significant bias - just look at the proportion of buy to sell ratings). It's a whole different world than buyside research, but if you already have an IB gig lined up for summer 2016, then maybe there's some value to exploring different things. OTOH, there's also value in preparing yourself in IB this summer for next summer, to better position yourself for an offer.
