Why do banks hire History/Geography/Political Science graduates in IB

Disclaimer: I am looking for somebody in the inside who has an answer, I am not complaining or arguing about this topic. Hey everyone I noticed recently that especially in London, lots of SA positions and 1st year analysts are full with graduates with majors not directly related to finance (perhaps I am not seeing the bigger picture). What is the reason behind this hiring practice aside from possible clients these persons could bring (which other business/economics students from same unis have access to) Do banks really think that they can teach this people all the economics/finance/accounting knowledge that is required to succeed in this industry? (please correct me if I am wrong) In which division do these profiles end up? Only FIG? Or do they go into CM and Deals? knowledge in knowledge that c
