Why I Didn't Answer Your E-mail

Because you:

  • Didn't have a signature. Are you kidding?
  • Never introduced yourself
  • Never told me how you even got my contact information
(side note: finding me on LinkedIn, then figuring out my bank's e-mail format and e-mailing me is clever, but fucking weird, just message me on LinkedIn like a normal person)
  • Obviously copy/pasted "bank name" (Outlook lets us see when you paste stuff in because the format gets messed up. Just type a new message, how hard is it to be genuine?)
  • Had grammar, spelling, formatting mistakes
  • Didn't attach a resume (no point jumping on the phone with you if you're not qualified)
  • E-mailed me from your personal g-mail (you have a .edu e-mail for a reason)

I didn't answer because I'm an asshole, I didn't because you have no attention to detail.

  1. No one ever responds to cold LinkedIn messages - a lot of people don't even check LinkedIn
  2. I was told it was too aggressive to attach a resume unsolicited
  3. Gmail has a better archiving feature. Also my school email address is my legal name which is really long and hard to pronounce, so it's easier to email from my personal gmail

  1. Disagree. Who cares if some student goes "Best, [First Last]" and doesn't have school, class year, contact info, etc.
  2. Agree.
  3. Agree if it is not obvious - if I'm an alum I just assume it's from the alumni network but otherwise if it's some random person I've never heard of before some context is nice.
  4. Agree, anything that shows up super sloppily formatted, really.
  5. Agree.
  6. Agree. Do it tactfully obviously, but when I was networking I had multiple people tell me the only reason they talked to me was because I had a good profile. If somebody responds, that's probably the first thing they're asking for anyways.
  7. Completely disagree.

You should attempt to help this person by offering constructive advice rather than coming to WSO to complain about it. You're not a BSD yet and posting this content makes you look pathetic. If you want to take pride in something let it be in the fact that you gave someone a hand up rather than trying to look cool like you're too important for commoners.

OP, your post comes across as elitist as others have pointed out. Good for you if you've been successful, but someone gave you your first chance. So please show some humility and some small sliver of a conscious :D.
