"I think your bank may allow me to position myself favorably in the recruiting market. Precisely, I'm confident that after 4 months in the role, my chances of recruiting for GS/JPM/MS would highly improve and I'm looking forward on my ~ 6ish month to quit and move to a new bank. So, I think that working at your bank would be a great opportunity to reach my goal of getting into GS/JPM/MS".

It’s one of the fastest growing banks on top of what everyone has already said. They also constantly win mandates against BBs and EBs. They have been focusing on their IB platform and heavily investing in people and physical resources.

Aside from all the hate posts which I could happily contribute to, you should definitely mention JEFs role in the IB landscape as a full-service bank without the onerous controls faced by a fed-regulated lender. Provides for more flexible financing solutions for clients which may often times lend themselves to be more flexible in structure than what you’d see elsewhere.

This is a chance to flex all the relationships you have developed in the process. Mention the people you have talked to by name and say you feel the fit is better with those guys and gals over the other banks you have talked to.

Everyone knows this question is total BS, but try to make it more personal than “XX vertical does well”. That sounds really disingenuous, even for a disingenuous question

Tell them you like to grind. I’m serious, when I interviewed there they loved that hardo mentality, so present yourself as someone who isn’t afraid of hours and is looking to “learn” as much as possible.

Jefferies acts as an independent advisory in the sense that they don't use their own balance sheet, but they have a strategic partnership with MassMutual which gives them the OPTION of access to capital. Having a huge balance sheet can be a double-edged sword and Jefferies gets the best of both worlds.
