Worst type of person to work with
I can deal with a lot in this job, but I CANT STAND the people who just serially call you without notice. Makes me feel as though I need to literally be at my computer at all times. I have a director who will call me any time of day at random without anything material to discuss. So Fing annoying.
How dare your employer contact you in the most efficient manner possible.
Fair if he’s calling me about something important, but when he’s calling just to call, it seems as though he’s testing to see if I’m working. Kinda bullshit
Yes, employers sometimes do that.
So what does he say
U up?
Get over it or get on with it.
Just don’t answer…I can’t imagine he would ask why you didn’t answer immediately because that would be ridiculous. If he does just say you were on a date/at the gym/on a run/at an appointment/or whatever other excuse you wanna make real or fake.
I don't answer unsolicited teams calls (unless it's an emergency which is like maybe 5% of the time) from the people I manage. Only for the people I report to - I accept unsolicited calls. I also am coasting ever since I got into Bschool. Pretty sure a lot of my reports hate me by now
So I'd say I'm probably the worst person to work with these past few months at least for my position in my department (especially since I already got my annual bonus/raise and not in line for any bonus before leaving). I don't think any of my counterparts have been nearly as lazy. Putting out a good enough work product for seniors to stay employed.
If your director is awake and you aren’t at your desk, wyd bro?
Not the most annoying, but one of my colleagues always has to have his 2c to look like he did all the work.
Example from yesterday - I ran some analysis for a client, took ~1-2h. Then arranged a call to discuss with the client. My colleague and I jumped on the call. The client ended up agreeing with my analysis and proposal, we jump off the call. My colleague didn't speak much because I was the one who did the work and knew what was going on.
Fast forward to today, we have a team meeting and the boss asks how it went with this client yesterday. I say curtly that they agreed with the analysis and proposal. Then my colleague pipes up and talks for 5m regurgitating the call. Bro just stfu you did nothing. And now you're wasting everyone's time in this call because you insist on making it sound like you were involved.
To me the most annoying is the dude who’ll say work will be done by 9 pm and when asked at 11 pm he says he still needs an hour. And then after an hour he sends some lazy effort.
As if sending me a “hey won’t be done by 9 pm, also need help” text at 7 pm is too much to ask for.
do people actually get away with this stuff? like they get to keep their jobs/get a rec from MDs and get bottom bucket or something
The obese coworker that revels in junk food while I’m tryna not gain weight / get cut and then somehow he is always on top of food orders. Every day it’s some greasy shit.
"somehow"
When I first started I used to hate getting phone calls from my directors, seriously giving panic attacks. Now I prefer that they just call me, rather than them emailing me vague thing and I will need to call them to clarify later anyway.
When I need something right now, call and the person isn't there....
I see what you did there.
The formatting freakshow MDs who think they're Michaelangelo as it pertains to PowerPoint slides. I'm all for making clean slides but if you're iterating on formatting 5+ times per page you're just bad at your job because your juniors have no idea what you want and you don't know what you want.
Dumbass VPs/directors who don’t know the space and make you run screens for hundreds of companies instead of doing their job and knowing who is in the space/looking to sell. Basically higher ups who grind their juniors for very little value add
