Wu Wien or Erasmus Rotterdam

Accepted for double bachelor in economics and econometrics in Erasmus and applying for BBE at WU and would like to go into IB or high finance position in DACH region (preferably Switzerland), and am really struggling to decide which one.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Erasmus University Rotterdam is generally regarded as a stronger choice for pursuing a career in Investment Banking (IB) or high finance, especially in the DACH region or Switzerland. Here's why:

  1. Reputation and Alumni Network: Erasmus University, particularly its economics and econometrics programs, has a strong reputation across Europe and is well-recognized by top-tier financial institutions. Its alumni network is extensive and active in high finance roles, which can be a significant advantage for networking and job placements.

  2. Program Strength: The double bachelor in economics and econometrics at Erasmus is rigorous and highly quantitative, which aligns well with the skill set sought after in IB and high finance roles. This program can give you a competitive edge when applying for internships or graduate roles.

  3. Location and Proximity to Financial Hubs: Rotterdam's proximity to major financial hubs like Amsterdam, London, and Frankfurt provides better access to networking events, internships, and job opportunities compared to Vienna.

  4. WU Wien Considerations: While WU Wien is a respected institution, it may not have the same level of recognition or alumni presence in IB and high finance as Erasmus. However, if you are specifically targeting the Austrian market or have a strong preference for Vienna, WU Wien could still be a viable option.

If your ultimate goal is to break into IB or high finance in the DACH region, particularly Switzerland, Erasmus University Rotterdam would likely provide better opportunities and positioning for your career aspirations.
