2024 FT IB (Advice Needed please)

Am currently recruiting FT, less and less applications keep opening. Was curious if anyone has heard anything positive whether internally or from others that hiring may pick up. I know that there will come a point when I will have to inevitably settle for something non banking so I can have A job when I graduate and as the year progresses I am becoming increasingly more nervous. Thank you for any advice or insight.

hey man i feel you ~ i have been STRUGGLING as well with no return offer. i have a strong resume and have literally had 1-2 interviews a week since the third week of august across MM/BB/EB in IB/S&T/ER due to aggressive networking/applying. it feels so depressing to not have things lined up post grad, but things will look up eventually as corny as it sounds. a lot of this shit is a numbers game and its not an easy market. dont blame yourself too hard. life levels out in the end :)

At this point I'd recommend looking to alternatives to IB or whatever you are aiming for. Find jobs like big 4 TAS or rx consulting where you can lateral in from.

Thank you for the advice. Any recs as to what gives best opportunity to make the jump into IB when the market bounces back?

Just a heads up A&M finished Rx consulting. I rerecruited this season as well and had 0 luck with rx consulting so I’d personally look more into regional IBs.

At least you have a job lined up. Worst case you can just continue to recruit / lateral once you start.

Similar boat.

Question for the thread: How hard is it to lateral between banks/cities once you’re working on the desk at say a MM firm in a non-traditional geography? Is it worth taking a less exciting role now or waiting until Q1 2024 with hopes of hiring picking up? Thanks!

brother take whatever you get atm and renege if you have to in the Spring.

These firms don’t give a fuck about us
