A few months in and I really dislike my job
After spending about a year at my previous place, I landed a "slam dunk" buy side investment role at a large fund. However, it has been very stressful so far. My co-workers are passive aggressive and managers like to yell at me for little or no fault. I feel dumb all the time and I've lost a lot of confidence in myself. Maybe it's because of the work environment and I've started to lose interests in the job/sector/industry.
I know I need to stay for a bit longer until I start looking again (two short stints don't look great). My question is how long should I stay? A year? Two years?
Assuming this is HF as I know as much as Marsha from the Brady Bunch knows about PE:
The “passive aggressive” bit is concerning, but other than that, HF culture can be mean. Yelling and high jolts of pressure are more commonplace than banking This is all stuff you can get used to over time. I have grown to like HF culture (I feel that it makes it easier to throw out new ideas - id rather have my idea heard but shat on and learn from that than be in a culture where thoughts are kept quiet).
Feeling dumb should slowly fade and turn into feeling confident, as in banking. But that transition of attitude is steeper and a bit longe
I might not appreciate your situation though so take me with a grain of salt here pal.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. It's very helpful.
Do others feel the same as you? I suggest trying to make it work for at least 1-1.5 years, but you can start applying for other roles now.
Bro, you'll build character and toughness being in this, Stick it out and let the results show, they'll respect you more for it
