Address Discrimination on Resume?
I've lived in a posh neighbourhood and the ghetto part of a city and I've used both addresses for my resume. Interestingly, both resumes have the same work experience but I've gotten more callbacks for interviews while living in a better neighbourhood. Sometimes, I'm asked about my neighbourhood by recruiters and the hiring manager.
If the below is true then, I'm guessing I should look into renting a mailbox for my resume, though it might look sketchy?
Address is in a posh neighbourhood (Gets most responses)
Address is in the ghetto (Gets less responses)
Living in a different city/country from the job (Gets the least responses - Hiring managers don't want to deal with bringing in someone from a different place)
Can confirm, my New Canaan, Connecticut address landed me a job at the Goldman Sachs.
a solid embodiment of the exact type of thing we should be trying to avoid on here, nice work, OP.
Why would you have an address on your resume these days? Is someone going to mail you something?
It is still the norm ... but good point - one could use any address without getting found out at least as long as they live in the same city
Yes, I've had official correspondence for interviews mailed to my address.
I used the address for my dorm, never my home address. The dorm is located in the center of a major metropolitan city, this added color to my behavioral interviews.
just write: 520 Park Ave, Penthouse. if that don't get it done, then you have bigger issues.
