Im updating my resume and my career counselor is having me use a format called Skills on the Side. Since I do not have a background in banking I was wondering what skills are necessary to succeed in Sales and Trading, specifically Sales. The format is such that I can list a skill that is useful in S&T and apply my experience on the other side of the resume. Hope that made sense.
I wouldn't trust the career counselor for resume format. Try to talk to someone in the industry that will give you an honest opinion. It sounds like your career counselor is a little out of touch with what a competitive resume looks like.
That sounds like a pretty weird resume format. You don't want a weird resume. Check Mergers and Inquisitions for their template, and tell your counselor that bankers like that template if he/she insists on their way.
