Advises on no ft job 2024

Hi guys! Thank you so much for reading this in advance. I am currently a senior, interned at a bb during summer, did not get a return, and now have no full time job yet. Would really appreciate if anyone has any insights on if I should keep recruiting for ft or go to grad school so I can recruit for another summer? Heard it is hard to recruit as a grad student for IB so kinda just don’t know what to do.. thank you!

Depends on a couple of factors
1. Why didn't you receive a FT offer?
2. What group did you intern with? (Some groups aren't hiring right now)

Curious what a proper (given honest) and sufficient response to this would be in an interview. The common explanations such as lack of culture fit or headcount needs are vague and overused to the point of hurting the interviewee in a saturated recruiting market. Do interviewers reach out and check with other banks, and do they actually care about the details of the answer?
