Am I foolish in trying to move from fixed income to equity?

Hi folks,

I got my first post-MBA stint in buy side credit research (mutual fund - Asia). It's been about 10 months into the job, and honestly, I am not very satisfied with the role because it lacks depth in research. Also, I don't look up to or appreciate the investment acumen of my team. And for these reasons, I was looking to make an internal switch to equity research with a long term career goal of becoming a fund manager or landing at a HF.

But browsing through WSO for the past couple of weeks has me doubting my decision. The future outlook for fixed income seems to be better than ER. Not to mention the increasingly common shift towards passive equity investing.

Private credit seems like a much better alternative exit down the line. Would love to hear your views on this. Also, I'm worried if its even achievable from my current role or will I need some other experience as well.
