Any reason why they didn't call back?

Hi guys,

Just wanna share my experience. I had a final round of interviews for a  FT position at a BB office at a foreign city more than 2 weeks ago. Interviews went really well, I nailed the technicals and got along with the MDs and VPs. However, they still haven't called back, and they haven't sent a rejection e-mail either. I already sent a follow-up e-mail 2 days ago but still nothing.

A friend knew somebody who was in the final stage of the process too and he got a rejection e-mail like a week ago. Is it common for banks to send rejections first? Sounds rare to me, not sure how to feel right now since, as I mentioned, interviews went good and had a strong background. It's kinda dissapointing not even getting a rejection and just pure silence, really liked the firm and prepared well

Also, given that it's more of a regional office, the pool of applicants is relatively small, I don't wanna believe they just forgot about me

Sry guys just feeling a bit low right now

Hey! Don't feel bad, what it most likely means is that they have extended their offers to their first choices and did not send you a rejection yet because they liked you and want to see if their first picks give them a rejection. So in essence you are probably on some sort of waitlist. I would potentially reach back out mid-next week if you haven't heard by then. Hope it all works out, and don't let it discourage you , lots of opportunities out there!

First, I'd say, good job getting to a final round.

Second, if you don't get the offer, don't think you need to change anything. Unless you said something so crazy/dumb, just keep doing what you're doing. Nothing is 100%, people get rejected all the time. I think it was Bill Gates who got about 300 rejections when he was trying to launch MSFT.

Third, as stated above, get use to rejection. You'll go through jobs/life and do things perfect but still get rejected. Getting hired is like dating is like a lot of things, you can be the best tasting steak in the world, but if someone is a vegan it isn't going to work.
