Anybody familiar with investigative DD? Wondering what's out there.

I saw that A&M and a couple of other large firms have Investigative Due Diligence (IDD) groups. What do these groups actually do? Are there any boutique IDD firms flying under the radar? Do funds regularly contract out IDD work? Any idea of comp at the upper levels?

Coming from 10+ years of accounting, finance, and risk management. Currently a few years in as a criminal investigator focused on financial crimes (USA gov agency) with lots of OSINT, interviewing, surveillance, etc. Fluent in a couple of languages. IR Masters. Hoping for a mix of USA + International (southern europe or south asia) work and wondering if there are any fun/lucrative IDD opportunities out there.
