Applying on company website
Hi everyone. I am currenty a senior in college and my school online internship/ job network is terrible.
I recently started applying online trough the carreer section corporate websites for internships. I applied to 8 internships and none of them got back to me. No rejection letter or anything.
Do they even check the applications that come through the website??? or am i wasting my time because each application takes around 20-30 minutes.
Network with someone at firms your interested in. Unless your from a top tier and target, its a blackhole.
I don't know how it is for internships, but for regular jobs, yes, they absolutely check resumes sent in via the corporate website. I have been called literally a dozen times through applications submitted via a corporate website. I'd say it's probably the most common form of hiring for large companies. But yeah, if your resume sucks (which it probably does for persons applying for internships), then you will very likely hear back from only a small percent of the firms you apply for, at which point you will have to go above and beyond and find people.
