Applying to a graduate program while not being a recent graduate?
Hi there,
I am wondering: is it possible/ acceptable to apply to a graduate or associate program if I am not a recent graduate?
I graduated from my master in 2007 and worked in EQD Sales ( US bank) for the last 2 years ( was a EQD junior trader before that). However, there are almost no opportunities in sales at the moment, and although I've tried to apply to different positions, I've had almost no answers.
So I was wondering, would it be possible to try to apply to a graduate program, or do I need first to go back to school (MBA) to be entitled to apply to those?
Thanks
Unless you can network into a position, 99% of HR departments will ignore you for graduate positions or grill you on why you want a grad position. I would try a headhunter/networking before coughing the money and time for an MBA though.
Thanks. I've already tried with a bunch of headhunters. Most of the time, if you're not a director they can place immediately, they just never call back...Things would probably be quite different in better market conditions, though.
Agreed with the above advice, networking will be really key since applying to these programs when you're not a recent graduate is very difficult. Going for an MBA would definitely be one possible strategy.
I second the MBA especially if you're trying to jump to IB
