Asking professor for intership/interview?

Title almost says it all. For context, I'm a 3rd year non-target UG who'll likely attend a EU target this Fall currrently interning at a small regional bank and with some other normal ECs. One of my professors is the CEO of a small and pretty local-focused P E shop (~$700 mln AUM). How should I approach him about this matter? I will obviously network with AN/AS first but I thought that having his referrall first would hugely help. Thanks and appreciate any insight.

Be straightforward. Beating around the bush won’t ever help. Shot your shot

Thanks for the reply, what are some selling points you think I could use in this specific case?

Honestly, just say you’re inspired by his work and would love to see it closer and go for it. Especially if I kinda likes you, I could see you getting the internship.
