I accepted an offer with a big four firm last semester for assurance, but I'm looking to switch into advisory with the same firm instead. I would start either in July or August for the original role. To be honest I applied for the wrong position and feel like an idiot for not letting them know earlier. Is it possible to request an internal transfer before I would start, or just I keep the assurance position? It's not a bad job either way, just not something that is as interesting to me personally as advisory.

Don't ask, it's not going to happen. All it would do is make you look bad - especially if you tell them you applied and went through the interview process for the wrong job.
Work about 18 months in assurance and then start positioning yourself for a transfer.
