Background Check - Get some perspective on this matter

Hey guys,

Just wanted to get some perspective on this matter. I just recently went through a super day. They are doing a significant due dilligence process of my background. Examples are high school transcripts, college transcripts, SAT's, my GRE scores and also a credit check. Have you experienced anything like this? or is something just a little shady here?. FYI it is a small PE fund just under 2B AUM. I've also heard stories about HR going through face book or myspace?.

I have no clue thats not the point. Maybe the person has an absurd picture posted or what not that would deter him from getting a position? Just curious if other members of WSO have gone through this. I think the biggest shocker was the credit check.

That's not how facebook works -- you can set your privacy settings so that ONLY your friends can look at your profile (and not any random person from your University network).

Which is why I said "if you are set to private, you should be ok." However, the default setting is for anyone from your network, so it is important to make sure you do change that setting.

Yeah my credit history isnt the greatest. This is what i was afraid of. pretty much all my campus expense was on credit except for partial tuition. Thanks for the comments
