For what?
How is the reputation of BofA-Merrill Lynch in Europe (London) for Investment Banking? Is it comparable to Morgan Stanley? I am aware that in the US Morgan Stanley enjoys a stronger reputation, but is it the same in Europe?
This is a totally worthless question without further clarification. Do you mean S&T, IBD, AM, PWM, Research?
And within those, do you mean leveraged finance, M&A, merchant banking, proprietary trading, derivatives market-making, ultra high net worth relationship management?
Overall, they're both good shops. Both firms took a hit during the financial crisis, but are much better positioned now. BAML took on more of Merrill's culture, and is a much better firm than some people seem to believe.
MS has always been a top shop. Each firm has strengths and weaknesses, and in some areas, BAML is better than MS, and in others, MS is better than BAML.
