Best Excel Modeling Self-Study

so recently I had an interview, where the first part, a written test, I did well on, but the second part, an income statement on Excel I had to manipulate I got smoked on. I'm considering one of the self-study programs (BITWS, WSP, TTS, etc. Full disclosure, I neither studied finance or accounting in school, tho I did minor in economics. I know the Excel basics (lists, sorting, graphs) but clearly that won't suffice.

What was the task that you had to achieve via the manipulation of the I/S? What is it that you had trouble with? I am asking because there are textbooks such as Rosenbaum's I-Banking and Benninga's financial modelling which address a lot of modelling topics in excel and can be obtained for far less cash than one of the self study programs you listed (or even for free if you are handy with google). I would suggest that you take a look at these resources if you haven't already before investing in a more pricey self study program. Just my 2 cents though, I hope whatever you choose works out for you!
