BlackRock vs PwC

I have two internship offers this upcoming Summer from BlackRock- Fixed Income Intern and PwC- Internal Audit. Since they are both great offers, I am trying to decide which is best for me. Looking for a company that will invest in my training, challenge me, and improve my analytical skills. I'm clearly a people person and enjoy working with others rather than sitting at my desk all day.

BlackRock has a higher compensation. People at PwC appear to be more friendly.

My long term goals include working for GS. What's the BETTER choice?

HELP. Please. I don't want to regret my decision.

Long term goals include working for GS. Wow...

On a serious note, as long as you think you can get along with the people, I'd take BlackRock. Well respected and more interesting than PwC. Plus, higher pay.

Can you please expand on "resisting the urge to kill yourself after a few months of working there."

Personal experience? Isn't Finance JUST as stressful??? Explain please.

Yes, personal experience. And it isn't the stress, it is the fact that audit-type jobs are monotonous, boring, and the amount of work to be done is still extensive, so you will have a pretty bad work-life balance while doing crap work all day, and your main exit opps will be along the same vein (not counting the lucky few who manage to move from B4 to IB/PE). Hence, go with BlackRock.

Internal Audit in NYC ultimately requires a lot of traveling with work on different projects and industries- very similar to Consulting. If i'm interested in Consulting, would it be wiser to go with PwC??

I don't have a strong background in Finance.

Your original post talked about wanting to work for GS. Now you are interested in consulting. I think you need to take a step back and really think about what direction you want to go in your career.

Since you seem to be trying to figure it all out BlackRock will be the safest choice for you. Having PwC on your resume is great, but will pigeonhole you as an accountant or mid-tier consultant. BlackRock sets you up for many more options after school.

BlackRock. Not even close. Unless you want to be an accountant, you'll not want to take the PwC internship.
