Not an investing role - and they are very focused on making sure candidates know that and aren’t interested in moving to an investing role. Interviewed with them a while ago when it was only a 3 person team. Seems like an interesting role nonetheless. Think of them as like what operational advisors are for a traditional buyout fund where they are focused on creating value at the portco level. So for GP stakes where the portcos are asset managers, they are focused on helping them increase AUM and fee revenue. But don’t think of them as like outsourced IR… a good example is they’ll research and help evaluate what other potential strategies an asset manager should expand into.
