Breaking into IB without a finance degree

Hi all,

Here is the snapshot:

I am 27, with a BA degree and currently working at a tech start up in Toronto area. I've been breathing sales for the last 4 years perfecting this craft. If some of you follow corporatebro then you may have realized IB culture and start up culture is not all that different >> caffeine + 40 hours + caffeine + 40 hours + caffeine = weekly grind. In the last two years I've built a small nest egg for myself with two investment properties and a small portfolio consisting of mostly long holds.

Now that you know a little bit about me, I rephrase my goals once every 2-3 years, and the current goal is >> breaking into IB.

So, other than not sleeping, here is what I've been doing over the past 12 months to prep myself:

  • CFA prep to sit for December 2020 L1 exam

  • DCF, LBO, and Comp modelling - self taught through udemy - I built my first fully functioning dcf using Tesla the other day.. it took about 6 hours but practise til your perfect

  • Python programming - self taught through udemy

  • networking with as many people as I can in the industry

  • and lastly I think this is important too, here's some of the books I've crushed in the last couple of months: Valuation, Investment Banking Wiley, Intelligent investor, barbarians at the gate, art of war, way of the wolf. I found the valuation book to be very technical as I gave it a rip before I started working on anything else but I'll definitely be going back to it.

Here lies my question, what can I be doing over the next 12 months to maximize my possibilities for a run at an analyst position in 2021?

Thank you!
