Can networking too much hurt?

I’m recruiting for IB, and one of my top choices is a strong MM bank that recruits a lot from my school. I’ve reached out to a good amount of people at the firm, and I’ve had really good conversations with them, including the Head of analyst recruiting who probably knows me very well by now. However, it seems as though the people that I’ve recently reached out to are aware that I have spoken to the recruiting head and a few members of their team.

Should I just limit my contacts to the people I’ve already spoken to? I just don’t want to come across as annoying with this firm.

Quality over quantity. Can't stress that enough. Even if you are at a non-target school, I would limit to somewhere between 3-6 strong connections. If you are reaching out and having initial calls with like 10+ people from the same firm, it could come across as you are not really trying to develop real connections. Just my two cents having just gone through recruiting

Oh shit, imma chill because I’ve spoken to like 6 of them so far. I feel like I’ve had good conversations with them, but I can see how speaking to a lot of them could come off as disingenuous

Yea better safe than sorry sometimes. Unfortunately sometimes out of necessity interns/juniors are more required to be seen and not heard sometimes… it can be stressful enough for the seniors with all the responsibilities they have.

however, on the other hand, during training and in general on the job I think we were generally told to overcommunicate, so I guess there is a fine balance. Hopefully your messages are helpful to them like I hope this post/comment is helpful to you and/or whoever else reads it! :)

I’m assuming it’s RJ/HW/WF, but regardless 6 people is more than enough. Quality > Quantity
