Career Advice

Hey folks, I'm looking to make a career change and could use some advice.

Background: I'm 4 years into my career...originally started off as an auditor at Big Four for 3 years and now I'm working as a finance manager at a PE shop. Current job is basically 60% accounting/40% FP&A. Also, I have my CPA license.

Currently: I thought I had wanted to work my way up to the CFO level through the accounting track but after seeing the operations/back-office side, I've slowly started to realize that I don't want to deal with some of the bullshit that comes with the accounting field even though I'm getting paid relatively for how early I am in my career. However, I DO believe accounting is a vital function of a well-ran business so I'm not at all shitting on the accounting field or anyone in it.

With all of that, the real estate and energy markets are something I get pretty excited about and I want to get into the investment/deal side of the business, specifically in either of those sectors. So, what are my most reasonable options? Do I (1) buy the financial modeling courses on here, (2) get an MBA, (3) look for other certificates that won't take as much time or money as an MBA

If I get an MBA, I'd want to do full-time and that would mean having to quit my job. If I don't do MBA, I can learn the modeling skills for cheaper but I feel like I'd be missing out on the networking and other important lessons taught in school that you won't really find elsewhere. I could also be completely wrong in my thought process but would love to hear everyone's advice.

Thank you all.
