Career advice
Currently a portfolio mgmt analyst at a Greystar/Hines/Invesco and looking to make a switch out of PM. May have an opportunity to join a top mf developer as an analyst, but unsure if this is a smart move considering I’ve been out of school for 3 yrs now and don’t want to reset the clock on promotions. I’ve been told to expect a promotion to Sr. Analyst at my current shop within a few months. What are your thoughts on making the jump before this happens?
In the grand scheme of things 3 years isn’t very long. It’s a tough pill to swallow sometimes but you have to think 10+ years in the future, particularly in CRE. Only way to keep your sanity.
I think that’s been the toughest thing to rationalize for me. Long term it should be a positive but short term it feels negative.
Who cares if you get promoted to senior analyst? It won’t transfer to a senior analyst role in development. The sooner you get into your desired career path the better
