Career change after FP&A
Hey, I’ve worked in F500 FP&A team for past 6 years. I was getting my visa / green card sponsored, and it seems like I am finally getting my green cad next year.
While I was working in FP&A, I became a CFA charter and got my CPA license as well.
Now that I do not need visa sponsorship, I want to work in more of finance jobs (e.g. investment, financial advisory, valuation), which I’ve long been waiting for.
Is it possible to break into investment banking related work or financial advisory (e.g. big 4 valuation advisory or advisory focused MMs) as a mid 30s with only 7 years of FP&A experience but CFA, and CPA?
I’m located at DC/NOVA area and did BS & MS Finance at a local state school.
If it is possible, would I have to start as an analyst? Or would my experience give at least give a bump to the next (associate)?
What should I do to grab those opportunities?
Thanks
