Career Dilemma; Graduation Delayed, what to tell employer

Hey, So I got a job in consumer banking. I have an issue because I just now discovered I may have to take an additional summer course to complete my degree program. Although my program does not state (nor does it state it anywhere in my offer letter) that I need to have completed my degree by May 2012, I am worried that I will be fired before my first day. I just wanted to know if anyone has heard of a situation like this or can give me some advice on how to best present this to my employer. It's a 6 week, evening course that I will have completed a month into my job. Anyways, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You might be fucked. Problem is you need a degree to take whatever series exams finra wants you to take, and pretty much everywhere failing or being unable to take these on time is a get out and leave your signing bonus on your desk. If you graduate in may, you might have time to get to a school with a short spring term and transfer the credit, if you can do this. A month into training might be ok depending on how long training is. Also obviously misreading a requirement is better than failing a class, so tell them that if you can.

When does your work officially start? I ask this bc I think alot of formal programs give you some time until they start (till August or so), which is plenty of time for summer school. And if not, just take evening classes.

It's consumer banking, not i banking. It starts the first week of July.
