Case Interview: 8 hours?
I have an upcoming case interview at a boutique that’s 8 hours long, is this common? What to expect?

lol go to a place that doesnt interview you for 8 hours sheesh. BB/MM banks prolly have standard 30 min interviews with the entire team maybe a model test depending what level ur going in at
Yeah it sounds fucking insane, it’s for an entry level analyst position
sounds like a sweatshop. who gives 8 hour case studies? this sounds like you're jumping through hoops just to be an analyst at some boutique. not worth it in my opinion (also have to think about whether you want to lateral). will this shop set you up for the next opportunity? lateral to bigger bank, position for PE recruiting, exit to corp dev/strategic finance. personally would be better to go to name brand shop
I appreciate the advice, it's a boutique with $80k starting + bonus. Main reason I'm leaning towards saying no is I'm overseas for the next month, taking full Tim classes, and working part time at my PE firm
damn thats low as hell for a sweatshop. minimum A1 pay at MM/BB/EB is 100-125
When I read 8 hours I thought to myself “wth, they are hiring an Associate, not a CEO”.
After I learnt this is for an entry level position, all I can say is try to avoid if you have options. The fact that they can just spend one workday doing a case study with a candidate (this multiplied by however many candidates they are interviewing) tells me all I need to know about dealflow + culture.
Thanks for the advice, already declined. Cfa 2 candidate, 3.7+ GPA, 6 months PE experience, I know there’s something out there for me. Appreciate your time reading.
