Cold Calling HR

Sooo I think it's about that time I start cold calling some of the companies I've recently applied for, not to be overly aggressive/annoying but just to reassure HR I am anxious to hear about possible interviews. I've applied to a bunch of different positions, mainly IB, some trade analyst type jobs and was wondering if cold calling would do any good? If so, is there anything in particular I could say that would expedite their decisions/catch their attention?

As in try to get in touch with current analysts/MDs?? If so, what do you suggest? Phone call? Email?

Also, what kinds of things to would I say? Simply send my cover letter?

FormerHornetDriverYou need to develop some relationships, which is hard to do from a cold call to anyone. If you do not have on-campus recruiting or friends in the biz it's hard to break in. HR gets thousands of resumes for every opening.

Gotcha, I'm thinking more of the LinkedIn route then. Possibly search the company's where I've applied and message them
