Cold emailing for non-students

All of the example cold email formats that I have seen on WSO are for students. Usually they discuss things such as: internships, majors, ect. How many paragraphs should I write for a cold email if I am a non-student and not even currently working in finance? Answers from Certified Users are preferred. Also, I would like to hear from anyone who has networked into a finance from outside the industry. Hear that @"HappyPantsMcgee"?
