College List Help....

Hey yall,
I am a senior working on finalizing a college list. I am looking towards doing IB in the near future so I would want a stronger IB school. I don't necessarily have the elite grades to go to the top top ones, but have decent enough for my list below. With that being said, I would also like one with a strong finance program while also being good for getting into IB (connections, reputation, etc.). Here is my list:

Penn-State University
Santa Clara University
Fordham University
Drexel University
UIUC
Rutgers University
Baruch College
Villanova University
Northeastern University
Boston University
Boston College

**Potentials**
Indiana U at Bloomington
Loyola Marymount University
Lehigh University
Brigham Young University
Case Western University
Babson
University of Wisconsin

The first part are schools I really like with a mix of safeties and targets. However, I can only apply to **eleven **schools. The ones under potential are ones I am considering interchanging with my 11 already selected. Please send me some feedback if you feel which I should replace which with...

out of the Boston schools listed, Boston College is definitely the best option for its name/placement. can’t really speak about the rest.

Everything is solid as in my already main list of 11 or that plus the potentials? also, which school from my list of potentials u think I should replace drexel with? I thought Drexel was good because they have this co op program where they send people to intern at goldman sachs

The main 11 are solid choices, BC is a semi target and has the best chance for wall street out of those schools listed. Idk drexel may have good co op but I still wouldn't go there unless it's your dream to work in Philadelphia .

I can't provide more info on potentials except that a lot of people on wso love IU and the workshop has amazing placement,

I go to BC...

You can get any firm you want here if you network enough. OCR is alright... but we place kids into EBs and BBs no problem. It's just not a feeder like Penn or anything though. And don't expect UVA quality OCR...

I'm at Northeastern. I got into finance on the later side so I'm behind the typical schedule. Northeastern has the co-op program, which allows you to complete up to three 6 month long work internships (full-time, paid). You are required to take a co-op prep class where you learn how to effectively network and present yourself professionally. It seriously helps. We have exclusive roles with Goldman, MS, JPM, UBS, Credit Suisse, Wells Fargo, Guggenheim, Consilium Partners, FTP, Arbor Advisors, MFS, State Street, Hercules Capital, Bain Capital, BCG, etc... different roles to choose from within those companies from marketing to portfolio ops to S&T and to investment banking. The list literally goes on forever. Almost all employers listed above also have OCR for their Northeastern exclusive roles and traditional SA internships as well. I'm currently with one of the employers listed above in a commercial banking role and I'll make around $25,000 during my 6 month internship. So not only do you get an exclusive pipeline to intern with these companies, you also get a decent chunk of money to put towards tuition/rent/life in Boston.

Yeah but you go to Northeastern. It is a non-target. Target it you want a co-op sure... but not a target for a real internship or FT position. Don't see many huskies on on the street. There's a few here and there at Boton MM's and boutiques though. It's like Bentley... non-target.

sounds like a typical BC response. first of all, you don't even go to school in Boston... you guys may have a decent alumni network, but northeastern has people graduating with 12-18 months of finance experience on their resume. having exclusive programs with these firms is as target as it can get. co-ops are much better than "real internships" as they last 6 months, which allows for more training and in-depth work experience. full-time offers are usually extended to co-ops if you aren't an awful employee.
