Current Intern - Need advice

Hi Guys,

Looking for advice from those who have a fair amount of experience in the IB/HF or any corporate office field

So, I'm a computer science undergraduate in the UK, going into my final year of university (equiv to senior year in the USA) this academic year. Non-target because I was a fuckwit in highschool and not mentally mature enough to know better. Currently averaging a high first (which in the US would be a 3.9-4.0 GPA if my google skills are correct). Transferring is generally not a thing over here.

Currently interning at a large hedge fund (north of $30bn AUM) in a support/MO role (In between PMs and Execution desk, techy role - not IT or Tech Support).

My goal is to work in the investment side of things, as such I would like to ideally get into a research role to begin with (fundamental preferably but quant works also as Im planning to do further study as back up) in either buyside or sellside.

Im on good terms with my manager (head of my group) and someone at the C-level (who helped me get in this role, non-family, pure networking).

I have 2 weeks or so left.

Would it leave a sour taste if I approached them to help me with this move? They are fairly well connected in the industry and have been very helpful in me getting what I want out of this internship. I understand the way I approach this is important, so any advice on any aspect of this would be great.

If anyone has experience with something similar, I would greatly value you sharing your experience.
