Cv show return offer or not
Hi,
I received a full time IB offer for when I graduate. I am free next summer so am applying for summer analyst roles in Quant trading , PE and some IB
Should I disclose that I received a full time offer from a highly reputable IB firm or not?
I'd imagine it could have two effects, 1. If i disclose it shows that I am good and easy to work with. But it may put some employers off as I may not go back to them upon graduating I'd they give me a summer offer. Other might see it as a positive
2. If I don't disclose, I am worried firms would think that I didn't convert and could hold this against me.
Let me know if anyone has any experience in this situation or thoughts.
Thanks
First, congrats on the offer! Not my area of specialty, but I don't think that someone would knock you for not putting it on your resume. I think it would be much more likely that you would be asked about why you are not returning in the interview. I'm wondering why they didn't ask you to come back for the next summer, as I have seen many banks do this with sophomore year interns. It is likely the PE/Quant roles (and probably even IB) will ask you questions in an interview about why you don't want to go back.
As a side note, I know when many seniors are full time recruiting they are asked about whether they received a FT offer from their junior year summer internship or not. I've heard of it being a bad thing to not get it. You could take a page out of this book and be upfront about it.
Overall, most applicants don't tend to make noise about reneging another offer because of the negative views of reneging. I know this wasn't a definite answer, but from what I've seen this tends to be a gray area.
