Career Resources
You must get in touch with recruiters in LA, SF, NY to have a shot at breaking in there.
With all these interviews you have, are any of them producing offers? I would take an offer in SLC/Den/Phx and try to get placed in LA/NY after you get experience with the firm... You might change your mind after working in Denver and realize "la & ny suck why would I want to move there".
Great. Whats the best way to reach out to those recruiters? Linkedin? Google?
Yes, as of today I have 3 offers on the table. Except, i'm slightly skeptical about living in SLC/Denver/Phoenix, so i'm trying to reach out to NY/LA before accepting anything.
Try any and all means, google, linkedin, alumni, calling recruiting firms, etc...
.
Great! Now that you have offers you can leverage those heavily to get the spot you want in SF/NY
I second what @"jbone24" said. At some point, if you're not getting the results you want, it turns into a all-or-nothing, do-or-die, 100% blood sweat and tears type of approach. Literally do everything in your power, using all the resources you have, to get those interviews.
apply online? I had no problems getting interviews from the BB in NY from my non-target school. Just have a good looking resume
@pubfinanalyst I hate to ask but could you maybe send me your resume (PM), or would you mind taking a look at mine?
I was curious to see @"pubfinanalyst" resume too if possible
While it's a fine career, I know that Goldman's SLC office, and I'd guess Denver and Phoenix, are mid or back office operations. Like I said, there's nothing wrong with that but it's usually difficult to make the transition to front office, and that's when you're in the same office or across the river in Jersey. I'd guess 2000 miles away from where most of the front office guys are would be nearly impossible.
None of the offices you have mentioned have IBD.
you should do you research before answering....
I am from one of the cities in which you have an interview and am working for one of the firms in a different city in which you have an interview and I assure you that there is no ibd in any of them for JPM in Denver, GS in SLC, and ms in Phoenix
A) you did not take that from any GS publication. B) you're a fucking idiot
Do you honestly have nothing better to do at 1:22am on a Saturday?
Considering how I mentioned I work for one of those firms I'm not on the east coast so it wasn't that hour you fucking terd
