I am familiar with Nomura outside the US and it's pretty big/solid closer to home than it is in the US (at the top of some deal tables etc). I know they've been trying to expand in the US for some time, and I think now (they are killing it in Japan profit-wise etc because of Abenomics) is a great time to make that push.

Yeah pretty interesting how they're trying to do all this organically as opposed to acquisitions like many banks have done/tried.

Any other thoughts, esp. from an analyst's perspective? Top coverage groups? I've heard Natural Resources is good. How about their M&A and LevFin/Acq. Fin?

This is interesting. It was only a few years ago that Nomura was talking about pulling out of IBD in the US. This news seems to indicate they are doing pretty alright.

"For I am a sinner in the hands of an angry God. Bloody Mary full of vodka, blessed are you among cocktails. Pray for me now and at the hour of my death, which I hope is soon. Amen."

So they're obviously spending the dough and not kidding around... but do you think it'll lead to success?

Any thoughts from those who work at Nomura Securities in the US now, will work there, or know others who work/have worked there?
