I would caution against actively recruiting with other firms while you’re in your first week or whatever of your internship. Finance is a small world and the Chicago banking scene is REALLY small (not in a bad way obviously, just how it feels). Just an anecdotal experience, but last summer I was interning at a Chicago MM and another intern in my group decided he was going to keep recruiting/networking with other banks. Turns out the MD he networked with at (comparable MM) was good buddies with our MD. That was an awkward conversation a month into our summer program.

If you’re gonna do it, I would advise you to just frame it as general networking and avoid discussing specific jobs/recruiting language.
