Didn't ask for resume- include it anyway?

What's up monkeys,

Did a quick search and couldn't find anything on this. I'd be surprised if it hasn't been asked before, but at least now it'll be visible going fwd with a relevant title.

I just finished an informational interview with some guy and at no point did he say send me over your resume and I'll see what I can do. It went well, but simply ended with a "if you have any more questions, you know where to find me" type of thing. Now I understand this may have been my fault for not being more "aggressive" in showing the point of my call, etc. But at the same time I have taken the same approach for other i.i.'s and they asked for it. So I'm led to believe this guy just wasn't familiar with the "game" (the guys I've been calling that asked for it were IB/ HF, this was my first RE i.i.). So I'm thinking this guy may have just legit thought I had questions, and wasn't trying to get a resume plug, lol.

The Question: So if you finish an informational interview and your resume was never asked for, does your follow up e-mail simply go "thanks for your time, etc" or do you just include it anyway? Also, if you include it anyway how do you word that in the body? Sry if this is a dumb ?. Anyway, thanks guys

everyone knows an informational interview is implicitly asking for a job or a means through which to expand your network to get a job. He either forgot to mention to shoot him your resume or doesn't really want to help you. It could be either one it really depends on how the interview went and the rapport you developed with this guy. I'm leaning to the latter, but if you really want to send him your resume, I would follow up with an email and ask him directly in the email "i was wondering if i could shoot you my resume for your reference/etc etc". I would most definitely not include the resume in the body of the original follow up email as that is very aggressive especially in face of him not asking you for it even after having met in person.

Just curious socola, why are you leaning towards that he dusnt want to help me? EA- pretty much the same as meeting for coffee except this particular one was over the phone. Pretty much ask guys industry questions in hopes of them asking for your resume so they can recieve it and never even take a look at it

I think you should drop a mail thanking for his time...and hint that if you are interested in get learning opportunity under him ..or some thing like that...
