Do I have a chance at all to get into Lev Fin or M&A?

This summer I will be coming up to two years out of college. Currently I am involved in a credit research start up, which is interesting but not really my thing. My goal is to get an analyst role at an IB. Now, I am assuming I can only go off-cycle route, so is there really any shot I got? Would attaching an LBO or M&A model of my own along with resume and cover letter in the application help?

GPA is 3.4 overall 3.7 major.

Any insight I would really appreciate, thank you.

What deals does the credit research start up typically work on? I mean anything is possible, I worked with a guy in the past that was a painter for 3 years out of undergrad then worked on toothpaste commercials in cali for a year before cold calling and landing a job at a small PE firm, and I'm not fucking with you as bizarre as that sounds haha.

Anything helps, when I had an interview I brought a copy of my model to the interview and asked if we could discuss it and they seemed to love that.

I guess it depends as well on where you live. If you live near a big city I would be dropping resumes and doing cold calls as much as possible.

PM me if you have any questions.

Can't PM you only have 4 points. That story is rather incredible, I guess it gives me some type of hope. We don't work on deals, the research was on how trading cash bonds but part of my work was essentially credit analysis which entailed me creating a full model. My modeling skills are there, I have no doubt that I can preform the duties of an IB analyst or associate in ER, getting the chance to see these people face to face to prove to them is another situation all it's own.

Becareful with how you approach this. Modeling is a great skill but if you claim you are better than you really are it will haunt you.

And i would not attach a model to my resume at all. Bring it maybe and only show it if you happen to be talkng about it.
