Do MBBs hire from Semi-Targets

I am an incoming student at UCLA next year (hopefully COVID doesn't cancel fall quarter), and was wondering how easy it is to get MBB interviews assuming you are a top student (3.7+, strong ECs, etc, etc), does McKinsey, Bain and BCG heavily recruit at UCLA seen as it is the no 1 public school. Looking at Berkeley's placement rates they seem better, and they get more recruiting even though they are ranked no.2. Why is this? and one last thing, I heard UCLA econ is hard as classes are curved to a B- average, do recruiters know this sort of information?

Thanks!

Is this a joke? Nobody thinks UCLA is better than Berkeley no matter what US News says.

Anyway, UCLA and Berkeley both have some on campus presence from MBB, but I believe not all three firms recruit at Berkeley and they take less than 5-10 people per year (which is very few for a school of that size). UCLA has similar numbers I think.

For your school difficulty thing, resumes are typically screened by alum of the school so they will have context for your clubs and GPA.
