Does a job in finance leave time for entrepreneurship?

I am quite set on the prospect of a career in finance but I also have a fascination with innovation and creating a startup. So the question is if there is a job in the finance industry which may help me with this aspiration or allow me the time to do it outside of work hours (I’m weary that some jobs have 12-15hr work days). Currently I am very keen to end up in a HF but if there is a better buy-side role then I’m interested to hear some opinions.

Much appreciated.

I have the same question as you bro. I know the hours are bad and a lot of people say that I won't have the time for it. That's not really my concern, I know for a fact that if it's important to me, I will find the time. My fear is more centered around compliance and whether it's acceptable or not.

I'm in commercial banking at a Big 5 in Canada and was approved for my startup. A few corporate banking interviews that I did I received feedback that my startup would be fine as an outside business activity.
