Does Somebody need a MBA to work the ranks on Wall Street???
For further clarification I am asking if somebody who graduated at the top of their ugrad class from a non target school and took interns at banks/firms during school etc. When they graduated, could they land a job at wall street and work there way up the ranks at IB, hedge funds, brokerage firms, etc. My underlying question is do you need a MBA to make it in the big leagues and make a lot of money? Would you look downed upon?
no. you can network your way in. work hard and make money.
David Shaw went to UC San Diego and never got his MBA.
true, but he did get his PhD in comp sci from Stanford and initially pursued a promising career in academia. no need for somebody like that to even consider an MBA
im guessing you are 18. Transfer to a semi target or target now. It will make it easier
Just work on getting a very strong GPA, +3.7. You will need to network and get really good internships. Most analysts are straight from undergrad.
