Econometrics - Not a requirement?
Is econometrics worth taking if it's not a requirement? Everyone tells me it's so useful and I'll learn lots and it'd be a 'competitive advantage', but they also mention how difficult it is. Any thoughts?

It's pretty impressive if you put it on the "relevant courses" line of your resume that's for sure. I'm going to be taking it as well, but I already have a pretty good GPA and am extremely interested in econ and so I'm not doing it necessarily just for the resume boost
Yes, take it. If you want to work buyside it can be useful for attribution or some regression analysis.
Econometrics is not 'impressive' when it is merely a requirement, although the course can be quite beneficial.
It's only difficult for business students
Econometrics isn't "impressive", it's an intermediate-level class that practically every econ major in the nation takes. That said, it's very useful and also provides more insight to business statistics. At advanced levels, it also just gets really cool and interesting, haha.
Definitely not impressive. We had to take it second semester sophomore year.
lol at these math nerds...
it looks good, just not that good as people have mentioned.
I guess it depends on where you take it. At my school we had to apply game theory and stat to ECMTRX and it wasn't very rewarding.
Just do your homework and you'll be fine. It's a very useful course - perhaps not in the practical sense, but you will at least gain a more intuitive understanding of statistics and aspects of economics.
