Entrepreneur wanting to change career to IM & ER
So here's a quick overview of my story....
I co-founded a small company in 2005 and began college in 2006 at 18 years old. I graduated from the Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida in the USA with a 3.67 gpa and a degree in business management in 2010.
Since graduating I have been managing the same company but I would now like to switch career paths and get into investment management, specifically equity research. I am extremely passionate about investing, and have been managing my own portfolio for over 8 years.
Here's my problem...I have been applying for jobs for the past few months and I have not received any replys from my many many applications. I have contacted numerous recruiting firms across the USA, but I have not received replys from any of them as well.
I have recently started to reaching out to alumni from my school on LinkedIn to try and grow my network. I was wondering if any of you could give me any ideas on how to land an entry-level job within investment management? I would even be excited to get an internship, but I know that many of those require students who are in school.
I am 100% posiive I want my career to be in investment management, and I was wondering if any of you had any advice? Thanks in asvance.
PS- I used this forum to help critique my resume. If you would like to view my resume you can look at my first thread I stared
MBA
I do not want to get an MBA right now because I want to attend a top tier MBA program and I want a couple of years of experience as an analyst first.
CFA. Just passing the first test might be enough to show that you are serious about it and that you can do numbers.
I was thinking about that too. I have not done a lot of research on how difficult the CFA I is, but I know the series 7 takes a few months to study for. How does the CFA I compare to the series 7? I know they are vastly different so please don't jump down my throat for asking, I just want an idea of how much I need to study.
