Equitable Advisors Short Term Externship - Worth It?
Rising junior at a non target, 3.71 GPA, trying to land a private bank/HNW PWM internship for next summer. I was originally slated to work at a multifamily office this summer, but it ended up falling through due to the pandemic. Managed to find another role within the asset management division of a large insurance firm, but won't be starting until mid June. I just got invited to participate in an "online externship program" through Equitable Advisors, which would consist of three online lecture sessions, all taking place before my actual internship starts. Some of the lecture material seems pertinent (portfolio allocation, risk tolerance), but there's a long section on "digging into your market" which is giving me Northwestern Mutual vibes. Does anyone have any insight on whether or not this experience would be valuable to me when interviewing in the fall? Mainly considering it because my asset management role this summer and my freshman internship were more quantitative, and I figured it could be helpful to have an experience relating to the more client facing and relationships side of the business.
