Equity Research to S&T Advice

Hi guys,

Would love anyone's input. Currently, working at MM Bank (Jefferies, Stifel, Raymond James sized) in equity research for a year but hate it. Have been trying to hop over to the trading/sales side of the biz but have not gotten a lot of traction. I want to leave research as I am a very competitive/outgoing person and I would enjoy working in the fast-paced environment of a trading floor. Product wise, not thrilled about equities and want to move over to FICC.

Ideally, I'd love to trade a more macro/global product like rates or commodities more in line with my international background and interest however at this point I cant say I'd turn down any S&T seat. I graduated from a semi-target to non-target for the ivy sticklers on this site (Villanova, Wake, Bucknell) with a mediocre GPA (3.2) after dealing with family members depression for 2 years that caused me to shift focus on that rather than econ 101. GPA after my first 3 semesters when I was dealing with that averages out to a 3.7.

Was wondering what if anyone here has successfully made the jump from research to S&T, if so what product did you end in and any advice you have? Also thinking about getting a masters but have heard mixed things about its usefulness in getting a trader seat. If anyone has any experience in this, advice on what skills to highlight as a research associate, or any other thoughts would appreciate it. Comments telling me to wake up, and get used to a lifetime of eerily complacent personalities, mild demeanors, and 10-ks as a research associate also appreciated.
