Externship programs?
As a rising junior, I'm looking to get additional experience outside of my internship for this coming summer, and have been looking into leadership conferences and such in May and August. That being said, what banks offer externships similar to GCM Grosvenor's GALP program?

Hey all,
I'm currently a freshman at a semi-target hoping to enter investment banking in a few years. While I have been unable to land an internship this summer, I decided that pursuing an externship might be a good idea. My ideas for how to go about obtaining such an experience would be to cold call and cold email different analysts or associates and ask if they might be willing to take me on in an externship capacity throughout the course of this summer (blunt, I know, but time is running out).
What experiences do you guys have with externships? What have you heard about them, and how easy/hard are they to obtain? I'm literally just looking to be free labor in this capacity. I'd love to hear any suggestions or advice. Thanks!

I think you are confusing "externship" with shadowing. A lot of times, unless they are paid work experience (10 week summer) positions, many people do not spend time in the program. The reason is the position may be: made up, not viewed as relevant, performance plays no role, etc.

Externship can lead to internship...my friend who has an externship at D&T said that D&T only gives offers to 2/3 of the students...I don't know how IBs do it...but I feel it can definitely help

I've never heard of any winter internship program at a BB. Heard of them for spring however. If anyone has a link please post.
