Extremely weird interview experience - thoughts?

Hey guys,

So I just had an OCR interview with an elite boutique in their restructuring group. I was interviewed by a VP level employee. What was strange though was that I didn't get asked any technicals and pretty much no fit questions as well. I only got asked to go through my story, and talk a bit about my past internship and case comp and any challenges. Then the interview pretty much finished (due to time running out since each candidate only gets 30 mins). I'm really confused as I prepared a lot and heard restructuring was pretty tech heavy. Has anyone else had this experience or have any thoughts/advice? Thanks

She spent at least 5 mins telling me about herself and background which was longer than my story. Other answers weren't too long. Around 2-3 mins

I had two interviews where I told them my story and they then just told me to ask them questions for the next 27 minutes of the interview. I thought it was awesome.

Its not as unusual as you think, some interviews are pretty random. I've spent some talking entirely about random extracurriculars / interests and joking around, while others have been straight to the point an all technical. Its really variable as to what your experience will be like.

I've found this to be more common with senior level employees, so not that surprising given you interviewed with a VP. For example, I had an interview with an MD where we literally talked about sports the entire time, before he gave me a couple of minutes to ask IB related questions
